This guide covers how to review student proficiency data, create academic intervention plans, assign targeted practices, document check-ins and notes, and close or escalate interventions when needed. Use this guide when:
You need to create or update an intervention plan for a student
You want to review academic data before starting an intervention
You're documenting progress notes, check-ins, or outreach
You're managing your school's or district's full list of active interventions
Reviewing Student Data Before Creating an Intervention
Before creating an intervention, review a student's proficiency data so your plan is grounded in the right information.
1. Navigate to the Students tab
From the sidebar, click Students. Use the Search field to find a student by first or last name, or scroll through the list.
2. Customize your column view
Click Edit Columns to choose which data points appear in your student list (e.g., name, grade, risk level, intervention status). Click Apply Changes to save your selections.
3. Open a student profile
Click a student's name to open their full profile.
4. Review subject proficiency
Click on a subject to see the student's proficiency in more depth. Here you'll find:
Overall proficiency growth
Number of answers connected to each standard
Individual standard-level performance
5. Drill into a specific standard
Click on any standard to see a detailed breakdown. Click it again to view:
Problems the student has worked on for that standard
An AI analysis of the student's performance
Correct answers vs. student responses (hover over any rectangle to preview)
For some standards, you'll also see prerequisite standards that may need attention before the student can reach proficiency on the grade-level skill.
6. Assign a targeted Practice from the standard view
For both grade-level and prerequisite standards, you can click Assign → Practice to create a practice built around that standard. Set the due date, give it a clear title, and click Post to send it directly to that student.
Creating an Intervention
You can create an intervention in three ways.
Option A — From a Student Profile
Open the student's profile.
Click Create Intervention.
Fill in the intervention details (see fields below).
Option B — From the Interventions Page
From the sidebar, click Interventions → All.
Click Create Intervention at the top of the page.
Option C — Bulk from the Students Table
Go to Students and filter for at-risk students (e.g., Risk Level = High, Interventions = 0).
Select students using the checkboxes.
Use the bulk action to Add to Intervention.
Filling in the Intervention Details
When creating an intervention, you'll complete the following fields:
Intervention Type — Select the area of focus: Academic, Behavioral, Attendance, Social-Emotional, Health, or Family.
Tier — Select Tier 1, 2, or 3 based on the level of support needed.
504 Plan / IEP — If applicable, indicate whether the student has an existing 504 Plan or IEP.
Intervention Plan — Choose from the AI-recommended plan, select a plan from the available templates, or build a fully custom plan.
Goal — Select the goal you want to focus on and enter the target value.
Timeframe — Choose a preset timeframe or enter a custom one.
Start Date — Set when the plan officially begins.
Assigned Staff — Select any additional staff members working with this student.
Once all fields are complete, click Create Intervention.
Adding Steps and Notes to an Intervention
After creating the intervention, you can open it from the student's profile and continue building out the plan.
Adding steps
Click the title of the intervention to open it.
Click Edit to add a step. Enter the step details in the text field.
Click Done to save.
Repeat to add additional steps as needed.
Adding notes
Scroll to the bottom of the intervention and click Notes to add meeting notes or general progress observations. Click Done when finished.
Logging Check-Ins
Check-ins let you document ongoing progress within the activity log.
From inside the intervention, click Check-In.
Select the student's current status: Improving, Stable, or Declining.
Add any supporting notes.
Click Done.
The check-in will be added to the Activity tab, which maintains a full log of all notes and check-in history for the intervention.
Completing or Escalating an Intervention
When a student's needs change or a plan reaches its end, you can update the intervention status at the top of the plan.
Completed — When closing a plan, you'll be prompted to indicate whether goals were met, not met, or the plan was discontinued. Add any relevant notes (e.g., "Student moved schools").
Escalated — Use this status if the student's needs require a higher level of support.
Click Complete or Escalate to confirm.
To keep a physical or digital record of the intervention, click the Print icon from inside the plan.
Viewing All Interventions
To see the full list of interventions across your school or district:
From the sidebar, click Interventions → All.
Use the tabs to filter by status: All, Active, Suggested, Escalated, or Completed.
Click Edit Columns to customize which data appears in the table, then click Apply Changes.
Look for the purple Suggested badge on the Interventions page or a student's profile. Review the AI's recommendation and reasoning, then click Accept to adopt it or dismiss it if it isn't the right fit.
