Using the Student Page: Filters, Sorting & Finding At-Risk Students

Learn how to navigate the Students page, customize columns, apply filters, and build targeted intervention lists. Covers the Attendance Trend badge, Days to Chronic calculation, bulk actions, and ready-to-use intervention workflows.

Overview

The Student page is your home base for identifying who needs support and taking action. You can filter, sort, and export the full student roster to spot patterns, build intervention lists, and focus your team's energy where it'll have the biggest impact. This guide walks through the key columns, how to filter effectively, and a few ready-to-use workflows.

Need-to-Know

This article covers how to navigate the student roster, use filters and sorting, and build intervention lists. Use this guide for:

  • Identifying students at risk of chronic absenteeism

  • Running subgroup analyses (IEP, ELL, FRL)

  • Building targeted intervention lists

  • Bulk-adding students to interventions

  • Exporting data for reports or follow-up

Step-by-Step: Using the Student Page

1. Open the Students Page

Click Students in the left navigation. The table loads with all enrolled students, paginated 50 per page.

2. Customize Your Columns

Click Edit columns to toggle which columns are visible. Key attendance columns include:

3. Understand the Attendance Trend Badge

The trend compares the last 30 days vs. the 31–60 days prior:

  • Improving (green): Rate up more than 2 percentage points

  • Declining (red): Rate down more than 2 percentage points

  • Stable (gray): Rate within Âą2 percentage points

4. Understand Days to Chronic

This column is enrollment-date-aware — it uses each student's actual enrolled days, not a fixed 180-day school year. Students already chronically absent show as blank.

5. Apply Filters

Every column has a filter control:

  • Text columns: Multi-select dropdown

  • Numeric columns: Condition-based (greater than, less than, between, etc.)

6. Try These Intervention Workflows

Students close to becoming chronically absent Filter "Days to Chronic" ≤ 5

ELL students with declining attendance Filter "Special Programs" includes ELL + "Attendance Trend" = Declining

High-risk students with no interventions Filter "Risk Level" = High or Critical + "Interventions" = 0

7. Take Bulk Actions

  1. Select students using the checkboxes.

  2. A floating action bar appears at the bottom.

  3. Click Add to Intervention to bulk-enroll selected students.

8. Export Your View

Click Export in the top right to download the current filtered view as a CSV. Apply your filters first so the export only includes the students you want.

Tips & Troubleshooting

I don't see demographic columns like FRL or IEP These come from your SIS and sync nightly. If they're still missing after 24 hours, reach out to your Professional Learning Manager.

Risk Level is blank for my students Risk Level requires the AI Attendance Agent to be enabled and enough attendance history to generate a prediction.

My filters aren't saving between sessions Column preferences are saved per user, but filters reset when you leave the page. Save your exports right after applying filters.
