Overview
This article covers how to use predicted proficiency groupings in the Standards view to build differentiated Practices or Quizzes for three student groups: Ready, Need Practice, and Need Help. Use this guide when you want to:
Assign targeted practice based on proficiency data
Support intervention planning or extension work
Differentiate by standard without manually sorting students
Before you begin, ensure:
You are logged into your Edia teacher account
You have at least one class with student data available
You have standards data with predicted proficiency is visible in your class
Steps
1. Navigate to the Standards View
From your teacher dashboard, click the Classes tab and open the class you want to work with. Select the Standards tab to view student proficiency data.
2. Select a Standard
Click on the standard you want students to practice. This opens the detailed view showing how students are currently grouped based on predicted proficiency.
3. Review the Proficiency Groupings
You'll see students organized into three groups:
Ready (green) — students who have demonstrated proficiency and are ready to move forward
Need Practice (yellow) — students who are still building toward proficiency
Need Help (red) — students showing gaps who are likely ready for targeted support
4. Create an Assignment for Ready Students
Select all Ready students from the list.
Click Assign.
Choose Practice (Standard name) or Quiz (Standard name) depending on your goal.
Confirm the assignment is created and posted to the selected students.
5. Create an Assignment for Need Practice Students
Select all Need Practice students from the list.
Click Assign.
Choose Practice (Standard name) or Quiz (Standard name).
Confirm the assignment is created and posted to the selected students.
6. Create an Assignment for Need Help Students
Select all Need Help students from the list.
Click Assign.
Choose Practice (Standard name) or Quiz (Standard name).
Confirm the assignment is created and posted to the selected students.
Tips
You can create a Practice or a Quiz depending on how much support you want students to have. Practices include AI Math Coach; Quizzes do not.
Assignments created this way are automatically scoped to the selected students; no need to manually exclude anyone.
Check back in the Standards view after students complete their assignments to track movement between proficiency groups.
