When to Use This
Use this article when:
An assignment is not appearing in Canvas
Canvas sync settings seem missing
A class was recently added or changed
Students cannot see an assignment in Canvas
Before troubleshooting:
Log into your Edia teacher account
Ensure your Canvas courses are active
Ensure you have permission from your district to connect Edia to Canvas
Step 1: Connect Your Canvas Courses
First, Single Sign-On (SSO) into Edia from Canvas:
Click the Edia button in your Canvas course side navigation bar.
You may be prompted to grant Edia permissions.
Next:
Go to Classes
Click + Add or Import
Select Connect to Canvas
Choose the correct Canvas course from the dropdown for each Edia class
Click Done
Need-to-Know
This process does not create duplicate classes.
Re-importing only refreshes rosters and sync settings.
If you do not see a Connect to Canvas option, contact your PLM for assistance.
Step 2: Check the Assignment Post Date
Return to the Edia homepage.
Open the assignment that is not appearing in Canvas.
Review the Post date and time.
If the Post date is set in the future, update it to the correct time.
Click Save Changes if you make updates.
The assignment should appear in Canvas once the Post date has passed.
Step 3: Confirm Canvas Sync Is Enabled
Open the assignment.
Click the three dots at the top of the page.
Select Share with Students.
Confirm that Sync with Canvas is turned on.
Click Update to save.
The assignment will sync to the connected Canvas course.
If You Don’t See the Sync Option
If Sync with Canvas does not appear:
Go to Classes
Select Connect to Canvas
Reconnect your course(s)
This typically restores the missing sync option.
