How to Post Your First Practice
Follow these steps to go from a new account to a live assignment.
1. Get Into Edia
Create your teacher account and complete the initial welcome flow.
If you’re prompted to “Join your school,” you can click Do this later and continue. Rostering can be completed afterward if needed.
2. Click Assign
From your teacher dashboard, select Assign in the top-left corner.
Then choose Practice.
3. Add Skills or Questions
Click Add to begin building your Practice.
You can find content in three ways:
By Subject Area
By Standard (Common Core or your state standards)
By Skill Name
Select the skills you want to include. You can add multiple skills and build the assignment to match your lesson goals.
4. Title and Assign to Classes
Give your Practice a clear, student-friendly title (for example: “Unit 1 Practice – Linear Equations”).
Select the class or classes you want to assign it to.
5. Set Post Date vs. Due Date
Before posting, choose when students can access the assignment and when it’s due.
Post Date
This is when the Practice becomes visible to students.
Use this if you’re building ahead and want it to open later (e.g., Monday at 8:00 AM).
Due Date
This is when you expect students to complete the Practice.
Use this to set clear expectations and keep student dashboards organized.
Common setups:
Open now, due later
Set Post date to today/now and Due date to Friday at 3:00 PM.
Open in the future
Set Post date to a future time (students won’t see it until then), and set a Due date after it opens.
6. Save and Post
Click Save Changes.
Then click Post to make the Practice live.
Once posted, students will see it on their dashboard, and results will begin populating as soon as they start working.
If Something Doesn’t Look Right
I don’t see my students or classes
Go to Classes → Add or Import.
Select Import from Google, Clever, or ClassLink to refresh your roster immediately.
(Edia also syncs automatically overnight.)
