How to: Reset an Assignment for an Individual Student

This guide explains how to reset an assignment for an individual student, clearing their previous work so they can start again. Helpful for teachers supporting retakes, technical issues, or students who need a fresh attempt.

If a student needs to restart an assignment (whether for accommodations, misunderstandings, or technical difficulties) Edia allows you to reset their attempt. This clears all previous responses and gives the student a clean slate.

Steps to Reset an Assignment

1. Open the assignment and click “Results”

This will take you to the student performance dashboard.

2. Locate the student

Scroll or search for the student whose attempt needs to be reset.

3. Click the three-dot menu next to their name

This opens the action options for that student.

4. Select “Reset Assignment”

This prepares the assignment to be cleared.

5. Confirm the reset

A confirmation message will appear.
Resetting will permanently delete all previous work for that student.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • The assignment must still be within its active window (before the due date or inside the late window).

  • If the deadline has fully passed, the student will not be able to open the assignment again after the reset.
